School Matters: Victoria ISD is seeking your input

Community stakeholders are invited to participate in the District Communications Survey about how and where they receive district news, updates, and information. The survey will be open for a two-week period closing on Tuesday, March 1 at 5 p.m. Survey results will remain anonymous.

Choice Application is Open!

The Choice School Enrollment application is open NOW! Choice Schools in VISD include Smith STEM Academy, Stroman STEM Academy and Hopkins and Shields elementaries and Patti Welder Middle School’s Personalized Learning campuses.

Save the date for the Finding Your "&" Choice Expo on Tuesday, Feb. 22 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the District Event Center. The Choice Schools application closes Tuesday, March 1.

Presidents Day - Staff and Student Holiday

All VISD campuses and offices will be closed Monday, Feb. 21, in observance of President's Day. Normal operations will resume Tuesday, Feb. 22.

VISD hosting School Choice Expo

Victoria ISD’s Office of Innovation will be hosting a VISD Finding Your “&” Choice Expo on Tuesday, Feb. 22 for all students and families interested in learning about Choice Schools in VISD. Choice Schools in VISD include Smith STEM Academy, Stroman STEM Academy and Hopkins, Shields and Patti Welder elementary’s Personalized Learning campuses.

Last week, Superintendent Quintin Shepherd gave the annual State of the District address. Stemming from the hard work of district staff, teachers, students and parents/guardians, he was able to spend approximately 25 minutes raving about the progress of VISD in the 2020-21 school year.

Pre-Registration open NOW

Victoria ISD's pre-registration “Round-Up” for all community members interested in Head Start 3K, Pre-K, and Kindergarten classes is open. Pre-register by Feb. 18 for Priority Placement.

VISD to implement one-to-one technology districtwide

Beginning in the 2022-23 school year, Victoria ISD will begin implementing one-to-one technology districtwide. This will be rolled out over the next three school years, with grades three through five receiving Chromebooks in the 2022-23 school year, grades six through eight in 2023-24, and grades nine through 12 in 2024-25.

P-TECH Interest Forms are open NOW until Feb. 25. P-TECH currently offers programs in Healthcare, Education and Training and Computer Science.

VISD seeking committee members for Bond Oversight Committee

The Victoria Independent School District (VISD) is seeking community members who are interested in serving as a Bond Oversight Committee (BOC) member. The Bond Oversight Committee is being established following voter approval of Proposition C - New Mission Valley Elementary School, a $25.845MM construction bond.
